  1. outlawX357 - kidnapped? what is the likelihood re that happening? Nobody is suggesting that 5year olds be permitted to run wild alone in the middle of NYC or the woods. We are talking about several school age children walking together for a few blocks to school or to the park or playing outside or riding bikes in their neighborhood without an adult. If you are a parent, you are raising fearful neurotic kids

  3. sammorxman b Children are not chickens to be kept in pens! I'm 73. By today's crazy standards, when I was a kid, every mother in my neighborhood would have been in jail. As long as it wasn't raining or snowing, we were outside playing with other kids in the neighborhood. If we needed transportation, we rode our bikes, at 10 we were allowed to take a bus into town as long as we weren't alone. I raised my son the same way. No wonder so many kids today are fat & dumb, unable to make decisions or take responsibility for their actions. Parents are supposed to be preparing kids to cope with life which includes freedom to explore the world, make friends & become a useful member of society.
