  3. Ukraine and georgia both applied in 2006 but both germany and france objected to their bid as they wanted a more friendly and economic relationship with putins russia instead. No NATO for them was what putin wanted in exchange. Thats why merkel/macron were so heavily involved in the minsk 2014/15 peace negotiations. Putin puppet yanukovych scrapped ukraines nato bid after he was elected in 2008, and then later its other ambition to join the EU. Which sparked the maidan demonstrations which would then lead to his eventual removal when he ordered his special berkut police unit to open fire on unarmed demonstrators. 110 died with thousands injured. Unsurprisingly, after that bloodbath, he quickly fled to his master in russia.

  4. Thats what 23 odd years of state funded propaganda at home and abroad can achieve. I can remember back in pre putin times "russia today" was a gentle russian culture based programme. Till putin got hold of it and turned it into RT. A full on propaganda outlet promoting putins russia and nationalism worldwide whilst at the same time using every opportunity to deride western democracy and all the freedoms associated with it. Putin has never feared nato as he has the nukes and MAD to always fall back on. What he fears the most is democracy. As all autocrats/dictators would do.

  6.  @Dipper_Pines  Only by stalin and soviet russification of ukraine up to 1991. 92% in ukraine then voted to become independant of ru/by. After 2014 ru/by are no longer regarded as brethren by ukranians. Now they hate you with a passion and i dont blame them.
