  3. @epink Maybe a country fighting a much larger empire might have something to do with it? Plus there has been 2 years of video evidence of people being forcefully conscripted to fight. Especially in far off states of the empire. As well as many others of them complaining of their conditions afterwards , either in their supposed barracks or on the battlefield. Navalny supporters charged for attempting to lay flowers for him after his death have all recently been conscripted to the frontlines as a recent example. Thousands of fighting age men also left russia to avoid conscription.

  6. A lot less than the money the monarchy brings in as a tourist attraction. 1200 years of kings and queens. So our biggest tourist attraction. The money the monarchy brings in dwarfs the amount needed to support it. It promotes the country and the economy with soft power. It promotes and supports numerous charities and schemes. It promotes and supports culture and the arts. It recognises and rewards good citizenship and success. It promotes and supports the united nations of the commonwealth. It promotes and supports the UK armed forces. Probably the most important thing for me though is it represents the nations identity. Scrap all that for republicanism. No thanks.

  7. Well actually the iraq and afghanistan wars were the "war on terror" after 9/11 and as we havnt had any recent major terror attacks on the west then i would argue that the war has been won. Obama said it would take 20 years.

I see no criticism of the dictator only criticism of"westerners" which is strange coming from a supposed westerner. There is no "we" or "us". It seems you have chosen sides. Which,, when it comes down to it, is democracy and all the freedoms associated with it v imperial fascism. So i will guess your either nationalist or maybe you bend the other way. Anyways putin has been influencing ukraine for the last 20 odd years as he never recognised their 92 percent insependance vote in 1991. All the nato, nazi and donbas stuff was all to cover his true ambition which was/is to reunite ukraine, belorus and russia again into a form of his beloved USSR. Becoming a true superpower once again. Its imperial fascism. Hopefully you will return from whatever dark side you reside and oppose an ideology that history has taught us not to appease.

  14. I dont hate the US. I will always remember my mum telling me about their "nice"soldiers as a kid during ww2 in plymouth uk just prior to them embarking to normandy. There is a monument in memory to them now in saltash passage. Many sacrificed their lives to make europe free again. Funny how millions of russians died fighting that same ideology in ww2 and now have adopted the same ideology. Well it would be funny if it wasnt so tragic.

  20. Gotta remember that the aid for ukraine, especially military, is likely to hit the defence budget to a certain degree. As they are doing NATOs job for us at the moment. Tho the conflict is deffo making a difference to defence spending overall within NATO. Poland is now actually spending more than the US per % gdp.

  22. Ever heard of thermobaric weapons and other forms of artillery and rockets? Putins military have them in large numbers. Ukraines military does not have equalibrium in that anymore as certain american politicians now seem to prefer supporting nationalism and strong leaders over democracy.

You know that match up i mentioned. A fascist state invades a democratic one and starts killing its civilians whilst flattening its cities, towns and villages. Yanukovych was in belorus waiting to be flown into kiev to replace zelensky. Plus TASS admitted it themselves with an article "the new world order" released 0n 26th feb, just 4 days after the invasion. It was released early in error as they thought the SMO had been successful. It was written by petr akopov and you can find it online if you google him. It was quickly taken down by tass but not before the internet archive had recorded it. It stated the reasons for the SMO which was putins imperialist attempt to restore ukraine back under his control pre ussr 1991.

Its about a failed 3 day regime change and putins quest for a "greater russian world". He has never recognised ukraines 92 per cent vote for independance in 1991. All those donbas regions and crimea voted in favour back then. Then putins 20 year strategy came in with propaganda strewn tv and media influencing and dividing people. Putin state tv and pro russian media owning ukranian oligarchs helping to promote putin puppet yanukovych. Rigged elections and poisoning led to the orange revolution. Then when yanukovych was finally elected he changed the constitution to become more opppressive and his political opponent jailed on false charges. A favoured putin method. So another orange revolution this time called maidan. This time though hundreds were killed and thousands injured as he sent snipers in to shoot unarmed demonstrators. No way could he carry on after that bloodbath. So yanukovych fled and the ukrainian people elected a new government. Putin still carries on with his strategy but now under a more fascist regime. His aim is still the same. To reunite the "little russians" of ukraine, the belorussians and the "greater russians" into that "greater russian world" so becoming a true superpower once again similar to his once beloved USSR. Simply put its fascist imperialism.

They lost 18 people fighting the insurgency alongside americans. We lost many too in the uk armed forces. How about repaying us all back the favour.
