If he hadnt annexed crimea in 2014 then putin wouldnt have been belittled and humiliated. Russia was in the G8 for 14 years previous to that. That wasnt being belittled and humiliated.

@johntrinci9445 So where is this genocide? Is that the genocide that putin claimed was the reason for the invasion. Funny then that the UN monitors present on the front line those 8 years never noticed any genocide. Funny how putin never once went to the UN with evidence of a genocide either. It would have brought worldwide condemnation on ukraine. Funny how he did use it in his state funded propaganda to the russian people though. To justify his real reason which was for imperial ambitions. To recreate the old soviet empire into a "greater russian world" that would rival the west as a true superpower once again.
