  3. The odessa tragedy came after a smaller pro russian nationalist mob attacked a pro ukranian/maidan nationalist march. People died from both sides before the fire. It became anarchy as the police and fire depts never intervened or even took sides. Fighting went on for several hours before the smaller group got chased into a former union building and barricaded themselves in. Shots were being fired as well from both sides. Molotovs were being thrown from both sides and the barricades caught fire. Many people died inside as they couldnt get out. Many were rescued tho. The ukranians outside erected temperary scaffolding to help save many. The investigation is still ongoing with many to blame in the police and fire depts fleeing the country. The date is an official day of mourning in odessa and ukraine as all those lost are still seen as ukranian.
