No, you lost a war to a fighting force that was bringing communism to a country, with a part of it in the south, that didnt want it. No different to the korean war that was fought 10 odd years previous. Only this time there was no UN mandate for it. Plus there was ever diminishing support for it back home and worldwide. As for the withdrawal from afghanistan. It was still a victory as it was just a part of the 20 year "war on terror" after 9/11 and other terror attacks on the west. It was still a victory in that war because there havnt been any major terror attacks on the west since the coalition left afghanistan. Which was the main objective of the war. Tho side project "promote civilised behaviour" failed as in iraq. Tho iraq does have a form of democracy now tbf which might improve over time.
