@BrapMan All a bit vague from an historical context.. The split occured after the anglo irish agreement in the 1920s after the irish war of independance. Some irish wanted it and some did not. That split is still there to this day. Ireland had been part of the UK for over a hundred years before that. I wouldnt call long term imperial colonisation , which was happening all over the world at that time, similar to modern day imperialist putin and his 3 year, so far, invasion and annexation of sovereign ukranian territory. Got to also remember that many irish fought and died for the UK and the british empire back in the 1800s. Some after independance and some even to this day. The british were not the only ones colonising back then either. It was an era for many empires. Unfortunately putin seems to be duplicating his form of imperialism, into the modern era, with a not to disimilar version of the axis and their uncivilised behaviour before and during WW2.. RIP Vika.
