@Yikes_I_Like The service is 70 years as a constitutional monarch. So thats 70 years of ceremonial duties and events. 1200 years of kings and queens. So our biggest tourist attraction. The money the monarchy brings in dwarfs the amount needed to support it. It promotes the country and the economy with soft power. It promotes and supports numerous charities and schemes. It promotes and supports culture and the arts. It recognises and rewards good citizenship and success. It promotes and supports the united nations of the commonwealth. Probably the most important thing though is it represents the nations identity. Scrap all that for republicanism. No thanks. Also millions of people are not starving in the uk. Dont know where you do your checking. Also people do not need money to be happy and fulfilled in life. People just need the opportunity to work hard to make their life and the lives of their loved ones better. The monarchy does not prevent this happening. Elected govt policies, a world pandemic and a war in europe does.
