Does he support trump? Or just traditional republicanism? If he does support trump then it would seem very strange. Though boris johnson is very pro ukraine and he has been cozying up to trump recently. Maybe he is trying to influence him towards supporting ukraine and NATO in case he is elected? I remember theresa may uks prime minister getting into trumps ear after his last election win and making him a little more supportive of NATO. Supporting democracy and all its associated freedoms worldwide, most of the time as part of a coalition of countries, is not bullying and neither is fighting international terrorism. Whereas invading and annexing territory like putin is doing is more than just bullying. Its blatant imperialism.

That was 6 years before putin invaded and the "obligation", not requirement, had only just been agreed 2 years earlier. So most didnt see a threat and the US is and had been the worlds military powerhouse for some time. The US uses its military for influence worldwide anyway regardless of NATO. Hence them paying the most. It also provides most of the weapons to NATO countries so giving plenty of well paid jobs for americans back home. Anyways since the invasion defence spending has gone up in NATO, not surprisingly.

Who is causing that division mate? I dont remember the old traditional GOP before maga being so anti democracy or anti rule of law. There is a reason so many former republicans have left the party. Or former GOP stalwarts like reagan, bush and mccain are now being criticised by this new far right version of the party. To break the wests lie "to take kyiv in 3 days". So if it wasnt for 3 days then why were they racing down to kyiv quickly to join up with those that took the airport right next to the city. Why was that zillion mile convoy behind it as well if it wasnt to help subjegate the city after the quick regime change. Why was yanukovych in belarus ready to be flown in to replace zelensky? 3 days was about right if it had all gone to plan.

It might well be too much for ukraine to try and regain their annexed territory but its for them to decide. Not us. If putin had stuck to the 2014 minsk peace deal then some kind of local autonomy for crimea and the then occupied territories might have been reached. If putin had just officially recognised those regions, which he did. and then sent his military to the disputed frontline just to create a buffer zone then this might not have escalated into a full blown war. He didnt tho did he. He wanted, and probably still does, all of ukraine. Thats why he invaded the whole country. To "protect ethnic russians" was just a pretence for his real imperialist ambitions. Also regarding polls. All of the regions and oblasts voted in favour of ukranian independance in 1991. Including crimea and the donbass. Many ukranians fled when the violence began. There is a reason shaktar donetsk football club is now based near lviv. How about them taking part in some of these supposed polls and elections too? Also OSCE election monitors refuse to take part in overseeing russian elections for a reason as well.

Ukraine lost people in iraq standing by you after 9/11 same as my country uk. How about returning the favour. You dont have to even lose lives this time. As for aid the US was 16th in % of gdp provided. The EU has surpassed the US with total aid. The US provides most military aid as it is the worlds military powerhouse. It also provides plenty of americans with well paid jobs providing military equipment to its allies and Nato members. Just remember isolationism can work both ways.

Those nepalese are only there cuz the indian army stopped taking them on in their ghurka regiments. We brits take as many as we can tho the numbers that succeed are tiny compared to those that apply to join our ghurkas.
