Yuschenko was later replaced by putin clone yanukovych who removed the NATO application immediately and later also replaced their EU application for one with russia instead leading to "euro" maidan. He also withdrew ukraines troops from the US led coalition in iraq during its "war on terror" after 9/11. Yuschenko was earlier poisoned during the orange revolution where yanukovych was proven to have fixed his election win. The demonstrations led to a rerun which yuschenko comfortably won.
