@AndrewKulcsar Actually, the procedure was available here, in many locations throughout Canada. Not only that, it was pioneered in Toronto. Bigbad cherry picks stories and leaves a lot of important info out. That's what trolls do. Williams had his friend (a doctor) in New York recommend a guy that performs more of those heart procedures than anyone. Someone who is a multi-millionaire can afford to see him. The rest of the States can't.

@yukoncornileus4 Yes, and many people can't afford treatment for their dog...period. Not to mention, Canada still offers some of the best medical treatment in the world as well...for humans. You're just pissed that YOU can't get that knee replacement in front of someone else who needs it faster. Ideology has nothing to do with it. A 2nd tier will pull much needed resources away from the public system, and create a better system for the higher income earners, which I'm one of btw.

And where was I speaking of Cuba? Listen sunshine, why don't you come up and visit me. I work in the Pharma industry and have direct access to hospitals throughout SW Ontario. I'll show you around, let you talk with patient's, docs and nurses and see what they say about our system. Or, if you got of your ass, google Canadians satisfaction of our system, AGAIN from actual HIGH number of people, you'll see its at 85% satisfaction. It wouldn't be if our healthcare 'sucked"

"Virtually all forms of cardiac surgery are looked after in Canada, and I would say extremely well," said Dr. Chris Feindel, a cardiac surgeon at Toronto's University Health. "Personally,I would have my cardiac surgery done in Canada. In fact, he said, patients from the United States go to the UHN's Peter Munk Cardiac Centre for valve repairs, a procedure developed by Toronto surgeons. Meanwhile, the death rate after bypass surgery in Ontario is among the lowest in North America.

@bigbad169 This isn't about what the U.S. does, as I haven't cut down the U.S. once, nor made up lies of what it does in Afghanistan. Its about calling you out on your repeated lies and insults. And, according to what I've read, the U.S. pledged 10.4 billion from 2002-08. I HIGHLY doubt the U.S. spends 1 billion monthly right now. Proof????

Have you ever been treated in a Canadian Hospital?? Didn't think so, so please do not claim to know what our care is like. I have been treated, as well as my wife, parents, friends, etc. I also work in a health care related industry. Do you want to know the difference between a Canadian hospital and American one? There isn't one. Oh wait, yes there is. The billing department. Canadians do NOT wait for urgent care, Period. And the very few go to the States for care.

@yukoncornileus4 We should look at other systems and things that work, we both can agree there. But you have to ask, why they work there and how they compare to ours. There's a great website that shows this comparison on a Canadian perspective. I'll send it to you if interested. For the ad, for those that actually would have gone there or any other country for that procedure, would pale to those who had it done here.

@bigbad169 You are one big cherry picker, who lies about the facts. One, its a myth that Canadians are flooding over the border for care. Look up phatoms in the snow, study on Canadians use of U.S. healthcare. 2nd, Richardson died because she refused treatment. Pure and simple. The hosptial 1/2 hour from the ski hill had the proper equipment if she accepted the original ambulance ride there, she lives. Short course is another cherry picked, ancedotal evidence story. Repeat. 45,000!!

@mrfwest Taxes have nothing to do with housing markets. Resale homes have no taxes. Your housing market tanked 3 years ago, along with global economy. Ours didn't, because we had the most stable banking structure on the planet, along with a much lower debt to GDP ratio than the U.S. Having a housing bubble is not good, as it resulted in countless foreclosures in your country as people saw the value of their house drop below what their actual mortgage was. We kept our net worth, you didn't

As far as doctors returning to Canada, more docs, the last 3 years, come back to Canada then go to the States.

@mrfwest Again, I've compared tax rates to my American counterparts, as well as online. There isn't much of a difference in income tax rates. In fact, many making less than 60 grand pay less in Canada. Not to mention, your top federal tax bracket is 35%, well ours is 29%. We pay more for food strickly because we have far less buying power vs. a country that is 10x our population. Our houses cost more, because we didn't have a housing bubble where we lost tonnes of equity. Not good for you.

Your google search is shit. Phantoms in the Snow study in 2002. U.S. ambulatory facilities survey. Almost 40 percent of the facilities we surveyed reported treating no Canadians, while an additional 40 percent had seen fewer than ten patients (Exhibit 1Go). Fifteen percent of respondent sites reported treating 1025 Canadian patients, and only about 5 percent reported seeing more than 25 during the previous year (generally 2575 patients; none reported more than 100).
