I've taken 3 of the tests on here.....I am a mixed UK\ Eastern European heritage. Its a bit of a mixed bag. If you are from the US, more than likely you will be of European descent. Ancestry is very good at differentiating your parents. They give quite an accurate percentage of your heritage and even the most common surnames. However it NEVER picked up any Eastern European contacts at all. This was the primary reason for buying the tests. 23 and Me, was similar to Ancestry but only gave basic reports of my 2 parents. They were very close in results to Ancestry. However, 23 and Me DID pick up a significant number of Eastern European relatives living in their respective countries. Last Was Living DNA. It was the least performing of them all. There is no real Map data so you can see where your relatives are from. the other 2 - ancestry and 23 An Me did have a very good map system in place. By far the most hits on the map data of distribution is the US. That is where most of the people taking the tests come from. More tests=More Hits. But for my requirements 23 and Me was best for trying to tie down my Eastern European Ancestry. My Dad was liberated from Begen Belsen and many people did change their name because it was prudent to do so. I've got to say for the most part, I had the greatest hits from Ancestry, and as I knew much of my Mothers side of the family, it was very accurate. Strangely enough Matt mentions Insurance Companies, which is quite an American thing. Most countries have free healthcare, NOT the US. A 'Pre-existing condition' is only a term used by insurance companies. It has no meaning in any other country.
