You did not explain business credit very well Dan. Dan, 80% of US jobs are with small to medium companies. Small and medium companies have loans with small - to medium banks. The loans have a variable interest rate, and when its renewed to higher interest rates, their monthly payments triple to what they were before. This closes down the business. Oh, they will just get a loan from another bank.....NOT gonna happen, Business Loans are unavailable, the FED has shut off the money supply, the small and medium banks have zero liquidity to give out loans. This is where the unemployment rates are going to skyrocket over the next year.

The US banking sector did not learn from the GFC. It is just catching up with you guys NOW. Yes, a lot of small and medium banks, credit unions are underwater right now. A lot will go bust. When the FED shut the money spout, many relied on that. and then bank runs during SVB just drained their liquidity. They will close, and by the end of the year the inefficient ones dragging the sector down will be allowed to fail. After the GFC, European banks were forced to secure themselves against another GFC and are in good shape. They closed all the money losing operations like branches and laid off a lot of people. They closed 80% of the branches and everything is done digitally. There are NO cheques or money orders anymore. THAT is what is coming to the US banking sector whether you like it or not. No chequing system, NO cashiers Cheques, everything is done online Its coming to the US whether you like it or not. .
