In the US a small business is ranked as: Small business by firm revenue (ranging from $1 million to over $40 million) and by employment (from 100 to over 1,500 employees). From some of the rather simple comments from your Subs, they think a small business has a lot of money in the bank. Indeed, most small business owners I know own NOTHING. The bank owns everything in that business, as collateral on loans. I've seen them borrowing money from friends to pay for the employees wages. When the economy suffers, ALL business suffer - late in paying their bills, cascades down the chain of companies. The chances are it is YOU that will be laid off, and have no income.

A small business is ranked as: Small business by firm revenue (ranging from $1 million to over $40 million) and by employment (from 100 to over 1,500 employees) That is the classification of a mom and pop business (small business) according to the US Census Bureau. You are just thinking in terms of having a bank account with 50K in it, and think you are rich...you are not. Lose your job(s) and you will burn through that 50K in a few months. The US is globally ranked Number 2 for poverty.
