same thing happened to us here after Katrina. so many people showed up to New Orleans to try and help evacuate people, but we were all turned away. people with brains can see how overwhelmed first responders in general do not have the numbers to evacuate people after a mass event like this. you would think someone could coordinate efforts with good samaritans that show up wanting to help and take some of the strain off first responders.
