you want to truly stabilize coastal erosion and rebuild the land lost, get rid of the levee system, and let nature take its course

@rainbeauxunicorn5237 because it did before WE screwed up the entire system. the levee system came into existence aster the flood of 27. the river built this state thru all the eons of flooding and depositing silt to build up the land. with out that mechanism continuing, the land began to sink, which is why the levees were not as high as they should have been when Katrina hit. the Indian tribes knew not to settle in a flood plane.

@rainbeauxunicorn5237 it is foolish to think that we can rebuild what took nature it;s self centuries to build, even thousands of years. there is evidence that the river changed its course many times. we see it happen even now with other rivers when there is such a flooding event that the river changes it;s course and flow rate. we can even see it today with the recent flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in the states north of us. it follows the whole idea of save the planet, which is completely stupid. we cant take care of ourselves and each other, and we have the conceit to think we are going to save the planet? the absolute best thing we can currently do is to live WITH nature and stop trying to control it. if we wanted to truly try to replenish what was lost it would require very drastic steps that people would most definitely complain about. loss of lively hood and it''s part of our culture and all that crap. sometimes the best way forward is the most painful.
