We live with an intense boredom almost all the time, so when we find someone who has shown themselves to be trustworthy, someone who is both willing to play with us but also capable of resisting we may gain some level of interest towards them. My partner for instance I can say with certainty I hold no emotional love for, but I do have a cognitive love, they are someone I trust and someone who comforts me (though I do not require comfort), they're someone I can express my truth to and they're someone that will deal with things for me when I really do not have the energy to pretend. I cannot offer love in return, but I can offer my ability to make them feel loved, I can offer them gifts and my trust. Overall it's a bond that I'm fond of, but I won't miss it when it's gone, I'll just move on to new things as always with some slight annoyance

Seems pointless, what can some other person provide me that my partner cannot?. I don't want to deal with my partners frustration and besides this other person wouldn't provide me the same stimulation that I require, they do not know my tastes nor have they built up all the jokes that are just between us two. Just because I may not love someone, doesn't mean that they aren't at all special to me
