Nobody asked majority of those millions of Irish if wanted to live in far flung Countries of the Empire, no choice given ,just taken and forced and each and everyone that was had backbreaking work to do as soon as arrived...for those that managed to make it on their own ,they too worked arses off ,and contributed,and enriched place living..They knew were hated ( by Anglo Protestant s made sure to dehumanise them prior) thought less of, even lynched by the KKK,refused lodgings, and entry to most places but they still kept together, helped each other,pretended not Irish to seek work ,worked and provided for themselves,survived and sent money back to family at home as abstract poverty​ @PMMagro
