  1. Because it was illegal, but traded from Ireland instead you know the country it colonised for 800 years ! Over 2 million Irish taken throughout the Empire, thousands of catholic Scottish and Welsh,and indeed Catholic poor English ..They except Cromwell called it everything else except slavery due to it being illegal.. Indentured ( forced and for life) penal ,in UK could have been as small as theft of bread to murder ,in Ireland for talking Irish . Rebels obviously not accepting the queen as ruler in Ireland, or maybe standing up to the English evicting them from homes... Orphan ships wholesale selling of babies many just taken ,picked of the streets etc ..Always away around legally on paper but not in reality for those taken.
