Yes because slaves would not have even freed otherwise.. owners paid upfront for contract term or term of slave for labour ..They paid thousands and would need refund back as.if frees his workers that paid for ,he is going to shut 😮down. So British government paid of the UK owners to buy freedom

  10. The British Colonised The Irish. Took them as free labour and settlers to her Empire. Took thousands of young children , to AUS, CAD, NZ US , they did nit have any say or choice in the mater .They in same situation themselves .​ @troywest1724
