Acapella science.

Is there a way to calculate the theoretical force required to break the drop? I wonder if we can find a way to apply enough force to its head to break it.

Anyone know where the "links down below" are?

For toppling the dominoes I'd use a marble attached to a rigid string (stick) attached to a pivot point so that it may be released at a set point and gravity puts the same energy in the system. Actually, come to think of it it a simpler method would be to use a rigid object (like a strip of metal) to push several lines at once and only measure the difference between lines. The next step would be to find out when the terminal velocity is reached. The method here is probably more up your alley. To measure the actual speed difference I'd intuitively try to film marked dominoes from the top so that when the toppling of them causes the mark to disappear we can use that point for a precise definition of the "front" of the dominoes which should result in a more accurate measurement.

Every time I watch the clock in your videos I wonder how you even function, Destin... xD

Destin, what happens at 3:23? I can't see a cut, but your clock jumps from 12:58 to 01:00. What's up with that?

Can we just highlight what a pro-level hand-shake transition this man made at 1:42? We can all learn from this.

In terms of how to land, I'm a big proponent of software-based landing. The algorithms we've designed since ~2016 till now in the field of reinforcement learning have shown an incredible aptitude at control tasks, way beyond the skill of humans. By writing solid simulation software and training these algorithms within a virtual environment, they can be exposed to many more (risky) situations than a human ever could; at least safely. This can make a landing vehicle piloted by software vastly safer than one piloted by humans. That said, like with any system that has the potential to risk human life, it is incredibly important that this software has appropriate sanity checks and bounds within which it is allowed to operate; and in the case of a descent vehicle, there should always be a way to override the system, and pilots need to be trained for this. A fun tangent: Not all computer operated safety systems should be over-rideable by humans. A glaring example of this exists in the Dutch delta works where storm barriers will close upon a signal of bad weather, and once that signal is passed, the construction (somewhat like a dam) will close. There exists no software or human override. It is designed to be closed by physics alone so that the emotional urge to safe that last boat of people doesn't inadvertently kill thousands.

DESTIN. That hook has my keyboard and desk wet with tea that got projected out from my mouth hole. I will now continue my life by cleaning the desk and then continue to watch your video. Thank you🐸

5:20 When the one you're interviewing already does your work of simplifying it for you!

15:32 - I can just imagine you being like "How do I make this feel like an actual interview? Oh! I know! I'll cut to me nodding!"
