Nobody Lurker Respect should in all cases be dependent on values and actions. Not on age, religion, sex, or any other factor. As we move away from the monarchical habits our ancestors set forth, we become more reliant on the wisdom of the common man. This wisdom however, is at times severely lacking, often due to no fault of the common man but instead due to the system in which they were born. Harlan Ellison said it best: "You are not entitled to your opinion, you are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant." In our current day is becomes important to judge and respect people based on their thoughts, opinions and their arguments. Not based on their stature.

Every generation believes it is more intelligent than the one before, and wiser than the one that comes after it. It may eventually be good for the UK, but it won't benefit the lives of the youngsters who grow up in it.

urafaget The thing you forget to take in to a count is that elders have gathered their knowledge and experience in a different time. Meaning that many of their decisions will be based upon the past. You might argue that elders have had a long time to obtain the intelligence to adapt to changing circumstances but in fact the opposite is the case, which is due to a diminishing level of neuro-plasticity. While the thing we need to take in to a count when making these decisions is the future. It's similar to the mistake all too many parents make: Namely teaching their children to live in the past, whilst they should be gearing them up for the future instead.

Kaos Nostalgic ignorants think they understand the complexities of Europe. That's funny as well. Unless the majority of the English population has law degrees and has researched the inner workings of Europe, there should have never been a referendum.
