Russians consider living in privation and suffering to be a matter of national pride, its hard to break such people, they can definetly be crippled which is what happened in afghanistan and the soviet collapse and on several occasions before that but this time with Russian ethinicity dying out in a couple of decades, Russia will likely not be Russian.
