This treaty is only as strong as the nationalistic tendancies that can counter it, Asean can survive and probably thrive but RCEP doesnt have a future with china and SK in it. PRC's problem was that they jumped the gun and drank the jingoistic koolaid before they became high income country which would have taken atleast no later than 2060 to acheive. But as we know they jumped the gun. with a collapsing birth rate they'll soon haveto rely exclusively on exports to prop up the economy, like the S.Koreans or Germans. The Japanese figured a way out but they already got rich before their bubble popped so they offloaded some of their export driven industrial bases abroad closer to the end markets in the last two decades. Japanese are smart like that when the chips are down they dont let ideology get in their way.

  19. Relocating Taiwans priced possession to mainland US in the long term would serve American interests quite well. Taiwan is in the ring of fire, the chinese could step in anytime in the coming years, relocating high end fab units to the midwest or any of the northern states would be advisable, considering the resource intensive nature of semicon fabs.
