  1. Nations don't collapse in a year. Soviet style collapse was more of an exception that the rule. Slow decay is often times what happens. Just because China has proven to be remarkably resilient doesn't mean it's not going to happen. 20 years ago or even 10 years ago US wasn't that interested in scuttling China's efforts to match them Industrially, technologically and scientifically. But now you get to see what happens when US actively tries.
