Not necessarily. Not without foreign Technological input and that at the moment is very limited. You might wanna look at case studies in SK, Israel, Singapore, Taiwan. Ofcourse our govt regardless of political parties can never be even 1/10the as forward thinking or productive as them. Then again time will tell

Need sustained multi-billion dollar investements in the defense industry for more than two decades to even dream of catching upto our rivals. This is good for the time being but just seems lazy. Might wanna look at how the Turks launched their aerial ambitions. Indian politicians are quite useless and obsessed with socialistic incompetance and capitalist corruption all rolled into one, not much in the way of hope for anything in the defence arena, private sector might be able to do something, again you'd need multiple decades and large infusion of tech and capital and then ensure adequate flexibility so that the tech thats been ready to be rolled out hasnt been rendered obsolete. Its pathetic that we dont even have a functional rifle thats been designed by us that been battle tested, pathetic like our disjointed defense spending where we are yet to have a dtc like the space commission, instead of having to deal with the bureaucratic cancer that is the indian central ministries.
