As an Indian I reserve my judgement till 2050. Have 60 years worth of reasons to be skeptical about the State's competancy to see this through.

Balanced and Insightful.

@SimplyVanis challenging in the sense that they don't what US to dictate EU's policies. Essentially EU wants autonamy. Which the Americans are like "hell no" because American tax payers virtually underwrite European defense, Same with S.korea and Japan. In fact American tax payers underwrite the global security system including the security of sea lanes from state piracy. Kind of the reason why we have active world trade in the 21st century despite having the technology to disrupt it. Everybody hates the Americans ironically enough the consequence of not having them around to keep everybody in line is exponentially worse a fractured world with regional fiefdoms controlled by a dominant local power vs what you have now. As they say you don't know the value of sight till you lose it.

@TheMrgoodmanners Brits were top dogs. But they weren't the only ones.

@williamhenry8914 people who indulge in ideological fantasies are hard to unconvince otherwise. obsession with democracy and 'tights' is a clear and present example.

Soviets did a number on these guys. Taking a page out of the british playbook and scrambling the whole rehion like a bad omelette.

@Jeffdachefz cultural influence can go only so far. But then again they were unnecessarily bleeding in Mali. The French have backed their commitments with blood and lead, which makes them relatively reliable allies, Just hope I haven't spoken too soon.

"Doesnt have the resources to do so" pretty much sums up everything in India. - An Exasperated Indian.

Need a "Geopolitics of the Indian subcontinent" with an indepth analysis of how geography has affected the subcontinent's history and its present state and future opportunities if there are any. Would love to hear your side.

Australia and France have very different neighbourhoods to deal with. And AUKUS is more of a US - Australia trade with the Brits in the background cheering on.
5
@MimOzanTamamogullar Turkey is politically sensitive.
5
Mad expensive is why they can't.
5
Britian doesn't need the empire to maintain its national integrity and its sovereignty. Unlike Russia.
4
@gaddafigiraffi7805 both have drawbacks. Its just a matter of the citizens deciding what they are willing to sacrifice.

Why ? Because of "people" and their "voice" ? Come on. most people are less than capable of understanding the reality of their own Nations and are more often than not blinded by their own pet ideological delusions to even care.

There was this moment in between 2014 and 2015 where i wondered why the americans dont see the chinese the way they saw the soviets. Because while china was experiencing its best years, US hadnt even begun to wrapping up their wars, they'd killed obl in 2011 but after that, they were just adrift. Then Trump was elected and the Americans restarted history. Americans could have stopped the chinese in one form or the other during their last three presidents yet only after Trump a radioactive candidate firing the first shots did the elites actually begin sharping their blades. They lost crucial time to sct and in a sense Xi's ascendance to tbe top job and China's demographic trends could have served as catalysts for the present state.

12:12 "Hindu colonialism" TF ? As opposed to Islamic colonialism which by your own words was somehow inclusive ? gtfouh. Hindu colonialism in Indian subcontinent where muslims are a victim is nothing more than the reversal of centuries of islamic colonization. We kicked out the British but still left Muslims and we are paying the price for it.

@1101 Moskva He/she/they is/are a "knowing better" subscriber cogntive efficacy is not their strong suit. Now if you wanna grandstand or j**k off to self righteous delusions based on incomplete or selectively misrepresented data without even a rudimentary understanding of the consequences, you are in the right company.
3
predictably so, courtesy of their geography.
3
@DRE2E not necessarily, Indians are not exactly known to be objective (atleast the ones that are, are ridiculed and shunned ), an objective assessment untarnished by ideology can be insightful. P.S - I am an Indian i know my history and fellow countrymen well enough to know when they are blowing smoke up their own a****.

14:24 clearly you are right and Xinjiang stopped being a restive location because China loosened it's grip.
2
11:58 Truer words have rarely been said.
2
for the first two months your morality right hold then reality will take over, because fuel prices dont just mean you have to pay more for your vehicles but higher prices for food and given that Russia and belarus are large exporters of potash, its not smart to let righteous indignation compromise your views. Unless you are American, they dont need external sources.

Atlantic ocean can help the europeans bypass the north africans altogether, considering all the major growth centres in africa are coastal states, with only rwanda being landlocked.
2
So during his stratfor days. Personally I became familiar with his work through his old grainy youtube videos. Some where around 2016/17.

Israel is fighting for a Jewish state. Plus unlike Ukraine there was no "sovereign Palestinian state" to invade. Also Ukraine has some of the best land in the Steppe. Israelis literally ploughed the desert to develop their agriculture, don't think the Palestinians have the technological, human or material capital or organizationl efficacy to do 1/10tg of what the Jewish state has been able to achieve.
2
@chadgaming8071 socialism by definition is about social/public ownership of property. countries that are more capitalist than United States have better (often universal) healthcare system where the state regulates and often manages the health care system.
2
Aside from Morocco, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique and Angola most African states are bound to end up in the bin in this century or atleast go through restructuring including that of their borders, coz you know the Brits did a poor a$$ job at that.

Like having a literal gold mine in the middle of hell surrounded by raging seas.

Addresses nearly all of the critical factors and pivotal circumstances that led to the present state of afghanistan and as always shirvan has done a good job of staying clear, honest and neutral.

@DRE2E also there is a video by the channel Strategy Stuff, the content is obviously short form but there is a presentation on the Mughal period and how their conquests were aided and thwarted by geography and technology, I believe its based on the book Mughal Warfare by Jos gommans. I would love to know shirvan's analysis.

@muslimresponse103 oh stfu. Its still our land. but possession is still 9/10 but our claim is irrefutable if it werent for our smooth brain freedom fighter govts that shafted national interest for international brownie points
1
@Bhatakti_Hawas exactly. caveat being 'for now'
1
@chubbymoth5810 That "reich" is the rightful owner of that Land.

To the people thinking "it's in Jammu so it's not a problem". Islamists arent stationary. They have the option of exercising an option called moving. Jammu is still closer to Kashmir than it is to Delhi. Jammu still has a relatively sizeable Muslim population ergo an ever present potential fifth column.

Russians are running out of time. In more ways than one.
1
As much as the Brits are annoying. The Scots cannot afford "whatever it takes".
1
12:55 I dont think that's intentional. But if it's fcking kudos. Somebody is paying attention. Demographic security is a fundamental necessity to prevent secessionists from reaching critical mass.
1
Beg to disagree. Change the facts and he is entitled to change his forecasts.
1
That's where you are wrong Russians have been taught by history that their security depends on their actions, that means not being dependent on the decisions of their adversaries. This was true when they faced down the Ottomans, Central Asians, Japanese, Polish and Lithuanians, the Swedes and the Germans oh not to mention the French. you are looking at the present as if reality has somehow been suspended. Just because there are no interested parties now for Russian Territories now doesn't mean there won't be in the future, considering climate change and the rich energy reserves of Russian hinterland. Past shows what could wrong failing to learn from it is a clear and present mistake. That being said Russian demography is already really bad, so painful demise is obvious, question is do they want be able to defend their territory or be morally superior and civilized and sacrifice their future.

"Ambition withou a plan might as well be prayer". I'll be using that. Also love your use of aphorisms. somebody ahould compile it.
1
@Anomize23 Nato was formed to justify the disarmament of Germany and provide a security blanket for Europe from USSR.
1
@yaz2928 not really. Chinese capital is one of the reason why north america's east coast has such high real estate prices.
1
@BruceWayne-ii5th Where do YOU live in ? The Sentinalese Islands ? crawl out off whatever chole you live in and join the 21st century. The long peace is over, get with the program or stfu.
1
Quad at the moment is prefunctory. Its better to see where this leads and how the institution evolves.
1
They failed with EEC and later EU. Looks like they are going to take another crack at it. If the Germans hijack this like they did with the Union, Things will start to get interesting in Europe after three decades.
1
Peter zeihan and Tim Marshall would agree
1
The point that matters is competent functioning of a system not the ideological fantasies associated with it.

Was hoping you'd put this out.
