There was this moment in between 2014 and 2015 where i wondered why the americans dont see the chinese the way they saw the soviets. Because while china was experiencing its best years, US hadnt even begun to wrapping up their wars, they'd killed obl in 2011 but after that, they were just adrift. Then Trump was elected and the Americans restarted history. Americans could have stopped the chinese in one form or the other during their last three presidents yet only after Trump a radioactive candidate firing the first shots did the elites actually begin sharping their blades. They lost crucial time to sct and in a sense Xi's ascendance to tbe top job and China's demographic trends could have served as catalysts for the present state.

@yaz2928 not really. Chinese capital is one of the reason why north america's east coast has such high real estate prices.
