This was a really good street interview! When I saw the title, "What Taiwanese Think of China," I thought they would say, "We are the real China." I know there are two different systems, but I thought the CCP was called "Mainland China" or "PRC," and Taiwan was "Formosa" or "ROC." Regardless of the the geopolitics and DC-Beijing tension, the people on the streets of Taiwan have a different perspective than what's shown in Western media.

It sounds like a great place to visit. It may turn out that the status quo is maintained for the next century. They may have found the perfect amount of autonomy.

@ariel850131 Thank you for sharing and explaining that to me. Hearing an explanation from people in and from Taiwan or Mainland China is completely different than the way it's covered in the US media. In some American media, it's portrayed as a flash point, which could cause a global conflict or economic embargo. Neither Taipei, Beijing, or DC wants a war; but it sounds easier to keep the status quo. I support democracy, so the decision should be decided by the people of Taiwan, as to whether or not have relations with the US. I don't support European/American colonialism and imperialism over China (Mainland + Hong Kong + Taiwan) since its the oldest country and suffered under the British Empire, Japanese Empire, and the famines during the Cold War. I'd love to see the country and get to know more about the people. I'm sure there's so much more to Taiwan other than just the semiconductor industry and being between two superpowers. Before the CCP and Cold War, the US and Mainland China were close allies. Maybe it can happen again in our lifetimes.

@goranstojanov1160 It doesn't matter the topic. There will always be the one Russian guy who blames everything on the US.

@ariel850131 Are Indigenous people from Taiwan also considered Han? I got confused because I though the majority ethic group in all of China was called "Han Chinese." If a person was considered Han Chinese and had lived in Mainland China before 1949, and later relocated to Taiwan would they still be considered Han Chinese?

@yunfeidu1787 I'm fair, but not "impartial" when it comes to the CCP. China the nation and people is the oldest country on earth, and they've influenced so much of world history, but once the CCP and it's done without it's done without a world war then it will be a good things. I'm on the American side, even if we're wrong, that's why I can't be impartial, but I'm genuinely curious how foreign affairs and Beijing-Taipei conflicts are resolved. It sounds like you do a much better job when a foreign power is not involved. It sounds like an American describing Britain, or Canada discussing America. Even hearing Japanese discuss China is friendlier than hearing someone from Texas describe California.
