  24. A NATO state should intervene and escort the Ukraine's grain shipments from the Black Sea. Preferably, it should be the one big naval power, other than China's PLA Navy, that scares the 💩out of Vladimir Putin; i.e., Uncle Sam's US Navy. The British Royal Navy could also be added to the list. It will be tense confrontation and seem like a Cold War 2.0 game of chicken, but the Russians aren't suicidal; they don't own the international waters of the Black Sea; and they won't attack anything with an American or British flag on it, nor will they attack NATO territory. This war has gone on too long and has damaged an already stressed global food supply chain by contributing to a spike in prices. The Russian Armed Forces may have a proud heritage of being a superpower that pulled off, arguably, two of the the greatest military victories in history by defeating Fascist Germany and Napoleonic France. The Soviet Union and Russian Empire were defending their homeland and actually had something to fight for. Because of the fact that both Russia and Ukraine were once part of a single nation, both the Red Army and the Imperial Russian Army are now essentially fighting themselves, instead of a foreign invader. I'm not downplaying the possibility of a nuclear war, but Russia isn't going to use nukes against another Slavic country. As a reminder, this is a war Putin started but can't easily win. Moscow is too weak militarily and economically to continue dragging out this unwinnable proxy war against NATO. It takes US leadership to escalate in order to de-escalate. A non-nuclear state would have already had its capital bombed and intelligence agencies would have orchestrated a coup d'état or regime change.
