This year, the geopolitical situation has drastically changed to the point of Transatlantic partners, which include English-speaking liberal democracies, openly demanding a more assertive German and European Union leadership over the collective energy, economic, political, and security affairs in Europe.
As a potential superpower, Germany should have a more active role in promoting free trade, European economic and defense integration, and countering the influence of hostile adversaries and the autocratic regimes in Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, and Pyongyang.
A German-led European Union and NATO wouldn't be seen as an existential threat to US economic and military interests. The US and Britain have both pivoted toward Southeast Asia and countering the regional influence of the CCP by enforcing maritime law and freedom of navigation on behalf of US allies in the Pacific.
