  1. According to the first NATO secretary-general, the original mission of the alliance was to "keep the Americans in, the Russians out, and the Germans down." Since we mostly agree that Germany is no longer a threat to Britain, we should support Germany's re-arming. With its EU leadership capacity and as an emerging superpower, Germany will be a check on Moscow's aggression and economic blackmail.

You have an irrational fear of socialism. It sounds like anything you deem to be harmful to society or the national economy is socialism. According to your logic, the virus that causes Covid-19 is also socialist, and when a mostly capitalist country enters a recession it adopts socialism.

This year, the geopolitical situation has drastically changed to the point of Transatlantic partners, which include English-speaking liberal democracies, openly demanding a more assertive German and European Union leadership over the collective energy, economic, political, and security affairs in Europe. As a potential superpower, Germany should have a more active role in promoting free trade, European economic and defense integration, and countering the influence of hostile adversaries and the autocratic regimes in Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, and Pyongyang. A German-led European Union and NATO wouldn't be seen as an existential threat to US economic and military interests. The US and Britain have both pivoted toward Southeast Asia and countering the regional influence of the CCP by enforcing maritime law and freedom of navigation on behalf of US allies in the Pacific.
