[ 2:33 ] The presence of the US Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the American Supreme Court and the US Attorney General should be no surprise. Their presence is unrelated to the US-UK Special Relationship or even the fact that the British high court will be named after the American high court. Members of the US judiciary are there because of the profound respect for English common law, an independent judiciary, parliamentary supremacy, and constitutionalism. Since 1789, the US Constitution has been the supreme law in the United States. As with most English-speaking nations, US constitutional law originated in Great Britain. Magna Carta was the first document binding a king and his ministers to recognize rights granted by previous monarchs. It established the Rule of Law_ doctrine between the king and his subjects. It also prohibited the monarch from disregarding laws passed by parliament Nearly all US judges and lawyers consider Magna Carta to be one of the most important documents ever written and along with The Petition of Right, The English Bill of Rights 1689, and the Writ of Habeas Corpus are the origins of the US Constitution and the civil liberties and human rights we enjoy today.

@highvoltageswitcher6256 I heard a story that during the war, Churchill had copies kept in the US inside the Fort Knox vault with the gold supply. I think they were quickly returned after the war because there's an anniversary or ceremony in the UK to unveil the original document. Judges and lawyers from around the world visit the UK to see it, so I assumed that was the only place to see the original.
