@spearmint1569 The embassies and ambassador's homes are still protected by the Diplomatic Security Services, Secret Service, and DC police. Once there is more information, they will explain how the Secret Service got involved. They can respond to any federal or DC-level felony in their presence if of they're called. They have broad jurisdiction and aren't restricted only to protecting the president, but the responding officers aren't an indication of which agency will ultimately have jurisdiction. It could be taken over by local detectives with the Washington DC Police. During 9/11 in New York before the towers collapsed, there were NYPD officers, ATF agents, and US customs officers initially trying to secure the crime scene, but the FBI was the lead agency with jurisdiction.

Washington, DC, is the home of American democracy, but it's also one of the easiest places to commit suicide by cop just by being on restricted property. It's almost like storming a military base with a deadly force warning or an airplane cockpit. Those guns aren't props.

Why are people charges with "seditious conspiracy" for coming the a protest? The First Amendment protects political speech. Are you sure you haven't been memorizing too many far-reich talking points without checking to see whether they're still relevant?

Why would someone be charged with "insurrection" when that's only an element and not a federal charge? The crime is the incitement of an insurrection and the criminal conspiracies to commit it. Didn't you use the same play on words with "collusion," and expecting a special counsel's exoneration of a crime that's not on the books?
