With the rapid economic rise and global confrontation with the CCP, the US should remain a close ally with Japan and other democracies in the Pacific and Southeast Asia.
If Japan is finally permitted to re-mobilize its military, the US can formalize its security pacts with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the Philippines. Establishing a NATO-like arrangement will work as a deterrent to Mainland China, Russia, and North Korea.

@TheNJB The US has a global role, and millions of people around the world are trying to come here. You might disagree with it, but the US is an empire and protects its overseas interests.
America has the ability and resources to close or secure the border if it wanted to. It might be business and political influence, but the US hasn't prioritized changing any immigration laws.
Regardless, that has nothing to do with Ukraine. The US didn't just randomly get involved with the dispute. The US, UK, and Russia all agreed to provide military aid in exchange for Ukraine returning their Soviet-era nukes.
There aren't many topics that have bipartisan support in Congress, but confronting and countering China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea is something all of Washington, DC agrees on.
The military aid and NATO membership isn't about charity or handouts. The US rebuilt most of post-WWII West Europe to have markets to sell American goods, financial services, weapons, and energy.
When this war is over, Ukraine will be a new market with 45 million Pro-American Ukrainians, and German-led EU will be transitioning away from Russian gas to be replaced with US LNG.
This war was a miscalculation and blunder by the Kremlin. The leaders of the West are all united, and the US is the only country strong enough to keep Russia from attacking Europe.
