  2. Why did the Nassaus lose so much speed when turning? Shouldn't a fat, low-aspect-ratio ship like a Nassau be less susceptible to turn-induced speed loss, since the amount by which its frontal area (and thereby drag) increases for a given angle of rudder-induced sideslip is proportionately less than for a long, thin ship?
