  1.  @jbpa7759  Overspeeding, in this context, is when the propeller spins too fast (for instance, due to suddenly experiencing much less resistance to its rotation, as a result of, say, the propeller suddenly being in air rather than water), which can potentially cause the propeller itself or parts of the propeller drivetrain to violently self-disassemble.

Why did Bismarck's turret-retaining clips fail and allow her main-battery turrets to fall out as she sank, when those on other capital ships shelled to destruction nevertheless retained any turrets that weren't physically blown off the ship? If one nautical mile was originally defined as the distance covered by one arcminute of latitude, how did they account for the fact that the distance covered by one arcminute of latitude varies depending on latitude?
