Did navies with short-decked aircraft carriers (such as Eagle and Béarn) ever consider trying to mitigate this failing by cantilevering additional lengths of flight deck onto the ends, or by using more-powerful hydraulic or pneumatic catapults to reduce the deck length needed to get aircraft up to speed?
