  1. Wait, the 5"/54 was really that effective? I'd read that it was actually worse than the 5"/38 because the much-heavier shells made for horribly-slow loading.

  2.  @Drachinifel  Which makes the flurry of 3-inch AA guns that entered service in this timeframe kinda surprising, since one'd think that there'd be no way a 3-inch shell'd be able to reach out that far (due to the proportionally-greater effects of aerodynamic drag on smaller, and, hence, lighter shells).
