In PoW's case, the rotation of the bent shaft ripped open the ship's bulkheads clear through to the engine rooms, dooming the ship. Why didn't Iowa's similar shaft casualty during Typhoon Cobra likewise result in destroyed bulkheads and catastrophic flooding at the heart of the ship?
