@thursafternoon22 If you're arrested for something that's later made legal, you should automatically be released and have the occurrence wiped from your record; it shouldn't depend on the whims of the executive.

14:56 - Even if people did outright buy pardons, though, would that actually be illegal? The constitution currently allows the president to pardon whoever they like for whatever reason (presumably including cases where the reason is "they gave me lots of money"), as long as it's for a federal crime that isn't the subject of an impeachment.
