  1. Out of curiosity, why doesn't a lighter projectile allow a higher muzzle velocity with a coilgun? The force on the projectile is proportional to the strength of the magnetic field acting on it, and the acceleration of the projectile is proportional to the force on it and inversely proportional to its mass, so it intuitively seems like decreasing the projectile's mass should still result in a higher muzzle velocity.
