The Vikings were pirates and plunders. The Scandinavians in old Russia were mostly traders, so technically there weren't Vikings. Yes they were important for creation of Old-Russian state, but the most Russians nowdays (who are intersting in history) see this fact as western propaganda und don't believe it.

You are probably wrong in case of Waldemar, the danish king took this slavic name from Wladimir the Great.
