  1. We know nothing about it. We did not know whether he hid most of what he was going through from others; whether he thought he had the strength to continue, and, gritted teeth, continued, but, in the end, admitted defeat. Perhaps ‘judge not that ye be not judged’ might be helpful here.

  3. Well, here in the U.K., most pastors and ministers have neither big houses, big cars or luxury mansions - and many of us do the work unpaid.

  5. Perhaps find a different church? Perhaps you just haven’t found £ your ‘tribe’, and churches come in all shapes and sizes.

  6.  @Pattim4762  I suppose that very few individuals are 100% Jesus filled, 100% of the time, so how much harder for churches full of different types of people. I mean, I can pray as much as I like, but still, at times, can create messes around me.

  7. In the U.K., many of our churches are small and so are the salaries for most (and many work unpaid). The word ‘parson’ (a Vicar in our language) derives from the word, ‘person,’ and, as parsons, we are subject to all the stresses and temptations of any Christian person. ‘There, but for the grace of God, go I’

  8. Woman priest here, Church of England. I think we do a good job and don’t seem to have quite so many disasters as male pastors.

  13. Perhaps some churches. In the Church of England, we have a pretty rigorous selection process. Mind you , that doesn’t necessarily mean they always get it right!

  14. I love your reminder that God is within us. Yes, it’s good when we do find a church where we can settle, but God is still at work…
