Suggest you might get hold of the book, ‘Blood Brothers’ by Elias Chacour, a Palestine Christian, former Archbishop of Galilee. Grew up during the horrors of Israeli occupation, watching villages destroyed, thousands displaced (the Nakbar in the 1940s) and aware of the massacres of peaceful Palestinians - but who spent his adult years working for reconciliation between Jews and Palestinians, despite the ever worsening conditions imposed upon his people. The treatment of Palestinians has been shocking throughout. God cannot be praised for someone now responsible for the massacre of over 40,000 people. ‘Love thy neighbour,’ and ‘thou shalt not murder’ are Gods commands and - apparently - central to Jewish culture.

@ I’m actually fairly balanced! If you read Elias Chacour, a Palestine Christian who was the Archbishop of Galilee, it gives a balanced perspective. He spent much of his adult life working for reconciliation between Palestinian and Jew and his writing reflects both sides well. I used it as a basis for a sermon on Christmas Day last year. But I think when we talk about balance, we can’t ignore the 45,000+ deaths and the almost complete destruction of Gaza. Or the complete imbalance of power between the Jewish state and the Palestinians from the 1940s onwards (seizure of lands, destruction of villages, illegal settlements, forced exile of 750,000 Palestinians etc). If you read about the Nakbar, the injustice and cruelty was extraordinary - there is no balance here. PS and I love my Jewish friends just in case I am going to be accused of anti Semitism.

Have you actually read ANYTHING about how Isreal has treated Palestinians since the 1940s? The Nakbar (750,000 driven out of the country)? The seizure of lands and water rights? The check points and walls creating a system of apartheid? The destruction (in the 1940s) of their villages and the massacre of many of their people? The gradual erosion of rights?

The slight difficulty here, is that it is the Jews who say, ‘God told us it was ours.’ In a court of law, your own testimony would not be sufficient to prove that you had a case!

Absolute rot about the Palestinians - they lived in peace with their neighbours for many years until they were driven out and killed by the incoming Israelis in the 1940s. Get a wider perspective by reading Elias Chacour, a Palestinian Christian and former Archbishop of Galilee, who lived through the Nakbar, the murders, the destruction of villages and the his family ( and others) driven from their homes in the 1940s - and read of how the Palestinians have been treated since that time.
