Either way, any houses that survived were built with different materials, as for example the small retail park that was left practically unscathed.

All fires cause more or less the destruction we're seeing. And WTF is an "AI controlled island"? What's more this is only a small corner of Maui.

  26.  @davidbrown5411  Cars are highly flammable, when they burn the result is exactly like that. But mansions? Were there even mansions in Lahaina? The few constructions that survived were either the small retail park, which was built with different materials, or houses that were not made of wood. The trees there are mostly charred... standing but charred, i.e. dead. Many trees don't vaporize in fires because of their composition.
