  3. Midway was Japan's last chance to win the Pacific Theatre conflict by ending it before America ramped up production. Their best hope was to negotiate concessions from the U.S. Any remaining prospect for that after Pearl Harbor was lost at Midway.

  8. Americans tend to put a lot of effort into something and then leave it at that. That's what happened for too long with the M4. We just didn't stay on it until we finally learned that we had to. Of course, we didn't anticipate that the Germans were already upgunning their Panzers.
