  1. Calling Nagasaki a civilian city is a misnomer and a dog whistle for anti-nuclear activists. None of the target cities were illegitimate war targets. They all produced weapons or made other contributions to the war effort of Imperial Japan.

  2. The whole point of avoiding war is that the civilian population of any nation does not deserve to suffer the consequences of their nation's poor leadership. But they will! If you believe that the Russian people should not suffer the consequences of the Ukrainian invasion, then you must accept that they shouldn t have invaded in the first place. You cannot have just one or the other. That is war. As Isaac Asimov said, "War is the last resort of the incompetent." It may have been Arthur C. Clarke or Robert Heinlein though...
