  1. WWII: Conditions in Germany made it possible for Adolph Hitler to come to power. Those conditions were caused by complacency in the status quo. A static government is no government at all. When the needs of the people are not met by a government, that government will be replaced.

  2. Actually, if it wasn't Hitler, it would have been somebody else. Germany got such a raw deal after WWI that another war was inevitable. Hitler was a result of the times.
