  2. Some foreign countries tax dividends. I usually dump the stock when I find out. If they have a ticker on the NYSE, or other U.S., then I'll buy it there. Nothing kills foreign investment quicker than taxation.

  3. Some countries do charge a tax on dividends for foreigners. You have to dive through a bunch of paperwork to have any hope of getting some back.

  5. You might want to look at ASEAN countries too. Singapore is pretty solid, for one.
