ðēðēðēðēðēðēðēðēðē Be nice, and plant trees! ðĪķð§âðð ð

Every package the U.S. sends has 155 ammo in it. The M109 is upgraded quite a bit, so I wouldn't call it old. I think they need more 105mm out there. You're the 105 guy. I think that's a good, effective way to deal with lots of the visible ranges, and to protect the 155s. They just need lots more ammo. The 105mm can save them lots of 155mm ordnance and equipment. They're using 122mm to great effect also. Then the 155 can save on HIMARS, etc...

@thelittlestmig3394 I hope the A-10 outlives the brass that's trying to kill it.

The whole concept was headed south from the moment they named it. It's a corvette, dammit! (And a lousy one at that) This was, and still is, one of the worst pork barrel projects ever to make it through Congress.
5
The 152 has greater nostalgic value as an antique.
5
Leave it to the French with their long history with artillery! Good stuff! 15 rounds a minute and you're worried about cook off...
4
Better than what we had in '83! ðĪ
4
You gotta admit they look good.
4
I like these new cartridge schemes. You can put a larger caliber explosive round, or use a sabot instead of the classic necked down caliber cartridge, and you can do it in the same [ammo] space.
3
It looks too expensive. I bet they only make so many of them. I like it though! I think the added expense is justified by the increased defensive capability from having more of the needed type of projectile of the moment. I can think of 1 thing you don't want to do, and that's drive through a wall with your reactive armor. I've seen a lot of these delayed fused penetrators, and they hit the spot. ðĨ spot ðĨ
3
Look at all that brass going over the side. ðĨšðĪ And then we have the Zumwalt Class, that downgraded from a 57mm to a 30mm... ðĪŠ
3
That's just, NO.
3
These look like they'd be easy to take out on their own. How'd you like to run across some AI enhanced versions of these when there's no operator to control them? ðĻ Friend or Foe?
3
Why is everyone retiring 105mm towed artillery? You would think they could make them easier and faster to move than ever. They're using an awful lot of 155mm at close ranges in Ukraine. I realize they like cluster bombs, but a few well placed and timed 105mm frag rounds can do a lot of damage. Sans that though, the M-10 Assault Tank couldn't come at a better time! ððð

"Mojlner! Here Boy! You're baaaacckk..." ð
3
Send the Robots ðĪ First! Why does it take a medic to think of this? If you want to know about tanks and buildings, watch WWII. Why do those M1s look like lawnmowers in this footage?
2
It's going to be a bloody shame when they run out of letters for the F-35! JK, hope they get it working before we get to Mars. Lol
2
The white is so we can see when to set off the Claymore better. ð
2
Too Late! ð If it doesn't hold water, it's not a tank. If a T-90 breaks out of the woods, you will fight! How many rounds can you stow in the CV90? U.S. Brass hates asymmetry. Look at the A-10. They are bending over backwards to get rid of it. The gun isn't centered looking, and the front wheel is offset. Can't have that! The new 50mm AP is supposed to be able to take out a T-72, so I don't think there are many existing targets that the new 105mm ammo can't handle. Maybe they can have a guy on a motorcycle with a Javelin follow them around. ð
2
I'm just a medic, but I am pretty sure radiation is bad for you. My Dad worked on the Manhatten Project and the AEC then NRC. I learned enough not to be too worried. If you get a good dose, you won't around for very long, so not to worry. ðĪ ððĪŠ Everything that's not a gas drops at 9.81m/s^2. ðĨļ everything

Trump sent his boyfriend the plans for SepV3, therefore, SepV4.
2
I don't think we'll be fighting little bity cars any time in the near future ðŪ
2
Ah, but the guhment!
2
These were brand new when I was in the Army. ð
2
I wanna see the little robot from, "Runaway" go after that Chechan dude! ðĪ "Aaaaaagh!" ðĨ Hell, Guys, you're more likely to take these things down with a shot shell than a machine gun. They just need to come up with cheap proximity fuses. Personally, I intend to use 00 buck. Once they get within 200 meters, they're toast. "PULL!"
2
Missiles, and MIRVs are essentially robots. They've already skipped the drone step.
2
Can't wait for SepV5! Is that OK for airports?
2
That looks like it could take a much longer barrel. It could also benefit from a closed cupola turret gun. Can it use the original M1 ammunition?
2
They should put this on the new Army LAV. Turret might be a little high... ð
2
Can these new planes really withstand attacks from the ground? I'm very skeptical. I guess we'll see... I don't see how they could be more vulnerable than helicopters. Speaking of which, I think they should transfer this whole mess to the Army. Obviously, there are people in the Air Force echelons, who will never accept these.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid! - The Knight
2
Malaria ð Sure why not? Ridiculous name aid memory. I think we need one of these on a corvette for the U.S. "Hello! Marines could use a little back-up!" I don't think the Navy will go for it though. They want their 57mm. BAE was working on a special round, but it's too expensive compared to a heavier caliber.
2
Better get New Tires too!
2
There's something that seems to e getting neglected by the autoloader crowd, and that is Group Psychology. Pairs are better than odd numbers i. Groups. The third wheel syndrome is quite valid. It's better to have two pairs so no-one is singled out. It's Human.
2
Need one in 6.8mm
2
Air Superiority is always a big factor in tank warfare. If you're being attacked with guided missiles, you need to counter that actively.
2
V! Abrams needs that gun! ðĪ ðšðļðĐðŠðŽð§ - The new, Higher Pressure Firing Chamber and the L55 barrel provide the upgrade in caliber. Velocity is the most important factor. KE = (M/2)V^2. Not to mention, sectional density is greater for the same mass in a smaller diameter projectile. ðĪ Also, Ballistic Coefficient tends to be better, meaning it cuts through the air easier, thereby retaining more speed for a longer distance. This imparts a greater impulse onto the target at range.
2
I'd like to see what they can put on a small ATV like Textron makes.
2
Agreed. I would say there are plenty of letters left in the alphabet for this plane.
1
I think the only objection our military brass had to the original was the high rate of fire (with jams of course.) We like those breach block .47-70s because they save ammo... It will be nice to see how this does with the new 6.8mm (.270) ð
1
The fat guy is probably the owner, or better yet, the owner's son! Boston Dynamics has really come a long way with their robots, otherwise they wouldn't be so funny. Watch the bootleg Atlas video with Kevin.
1
Weren't you just saying they were upgrading them...?
1
Let's keep that barrel as short as possible. Don't want to run into any trees now. I know, it needs to go on the plane.
1
What it's like now?
1
I heard, optional armor to stop 25mm sabo ammo. Good enough for defilade in a pinch.
1
I'm not sure which APC I saw on TV in Chechnya, but the rebels had flattened all their tires with machine gun fire, and the crew was hiding in a building. ð
1
Any word yet on the 6.8mm LSAT-AR? Would love to hear some comparisons on long range effectiveness.
1
I want to see the M1A4 with L55 barrel and enhanced chamber pressure. An upgrade to the turbine for 1600 horsepower should be considered along with modernized armor.
1
I want to see L55 on the Abrams, or I'm going to sleep on this for a very long time. ð
1
Yh, I was kind of wondering. Maybe it's easier to remember that way.
